Default exhaust,02 sensor, and cat questions.

As of today i recieved my baby back with my freshly installed 3.73's in the rear and wednesday i plan on installing my new RAM clutch kit. So to get to the point...While im under there i am planning on doing a full custom built exhaust setup with straights or using the previously installed flowmaster 44's that i was not too impressed with.
I was thinking of removing the cats and i was curious if i do so what would happen and of the 02 sensor placement...is it necessary to retain the 02 sensors? If they are removed will i be stuck with a code? I do not wanna go and do a hillbilly exhaust job and mess my girl up so any help or advise would be helpful.

Also whats the best way to go about my speedo being screwed after gear install?

if you buy an offroad h/x they come with o2 bungs in them, and yes you should keep the o2's connected

buy a 3.73 speedo gear

I didn't imagine removing the 02 sensore would be wise but i've seen/heard of it being done.

So what about the pipe fitting for the smog pump hose?
And how hard do u imagine it would be to remove the cats on the stock h pipe and retain the o2 sensor? Is it fitted into a cat or in the pipe?
Also with the cats out will i lose too much back pressure and harm the motor at all?

most offroad mid pipes come with a bung for the smog tube, the o2's screw into the mid pipe, the backpressure stuff is all a myth

Thanks for the help prime...one last one, on the stock h pipe does the 02 screw into the bung or the cat? Im curious as to if i can just remove cats and weld in "test" pipes in there place.
Mine is a 94 gt BTW.

Roger that, im in north west Florida up here by the beaches...they dont test emissions round here.

I guess until i can earn some more money im just gonna weld testies into my stock H and then unbolt and rebolt the pypes offroad x on when i got some more cash. Now i just need to decide whether or not to retain th flowmaster 44's under there or just run straights...

dont mess with the stock pipe, its 2.25" diameter piping, and welding in straight pipe to remove the cats isnt going to net you any advantage, Just leave it alone until you can buy the proper offroad mid pipe

Actually, some GM vehicles use possitive and negative backpressure EGR valves that operate with exhaust back pressure in use also with the EFE system. Its an older design seeing as now most newer GM's use a Digital and Linear EGR
