Default Automatic to Manual

Hello guys/gals i am new to this forum. I am needing some feedback on the difficulties of changing out from a automatic tran to manual. I know for performance it will be worth it, but is price and headache worth it?

i'll tell you what they told me. It's a pain in the *** and prob better to just replace the car. Probably would be a lot cheaper. If it has sentimental value and your stuck on getting the tranny. I'll send you the things you will need from a member that send it to me. let me know.

yea its a pain in the butt for sure. But if your fixed on doing it the best thing and probably the cheapest way to go is finding you a 4cyl pos 5 speed and you just take all the parts off of it. its hard to come across all of the parts you need. besides the AOD being big pieces of crap i like have a auto. I know that know 5 speed can shift as fast and as hard as my auto.

its not that bad spend a weekend and do it and be done with it. If you do your research and have what you need its not that bad and when your down you will know it was worth it. Parts car is a plus that was my route

I'll tell you what we tell alot of SN guys. If you don't own the car then you probably don't know what your talking about....

Doing a manual swap in our car if you have everything is a piece of cake. The hardest thing probably is thinking of what to do with the paperweight when you are done. But like already said you could spend the money on beefing up the AOD with a stall converter, a shift kit, and doing the epoxy mod. If you want to talk to someone who knows alot about making the AOD a good trans talk to silverfox at www.clickclickracing.com

^Absolutely.

My suggestion would be to do the swap if you WANT a 5 speed though. Beefing up the AOD is just as much work as a man conversion imo.

+1 DO IT motorman has my swap when i went auto to manual, and trust me, though it might be time consuming it makes ur car a lot more fun, and you actually learn a bunch of stuff along the way!
go over to ford muscle (its a paid sight) but they have an article about switching transmissions in it
