Default Powerdyne Blower - Might Buy - A few questions

So in the local ads buddys selling a powerdyne silent-drive blower 9lbs boost ( no part # ) for $1500

All the parts look like they're there. Its shows it installed and removed.

Most of you guys are running a vortech or paxton setup and your very basis aha.,

But i like it because id rather not waste my money on crap.

It looks well used, and id try and lower the price ALOT.

Im currently running a stock 5.0L 5 spd and would run this with probs a basic gt40 set up if i bought it.

Im going to call him on tues and see if it comes with a chip, what size the maff is and stuff.

All ive read is that the belts seem to go in them if there abused.

I dont need to plumb the oil pan.

And there pretty simple.

It comes with the msd boost box

peace!

oh btw its a dd

it seems like a basic kit im a boost nub,

and if this is a direct bolt of for down the road fun and worth picking up then ill go for it.

if its a clusterfuk then ill stay away.

on the cheap budget build id probs throw a gt40 intake on and gt40 intake p&p'd with gt40 heads

i have no idea whats needed as far as fuel, computer, injectors, tuning, gauges ect.

thanks!

if it's well used a rebuild may be needed soon on the head unit, and if so 1500.00 would be taking a gamble. as you said, try and get it lower

powerdyne blowers are well known for ejecting the impeller wheel into the engine..

so if you want to be rebuilding your entire engine over again in less than a year.... go for it

um say that again? injecting the propeller wheel into the engine?

umm how much would a rebuild be and take to do?

Is it jsut bearings and a belt?

Or is it alot of clearance issues and such?

since it comes with a fmu, I would bet money that it doesn't come with a chip. If it does, make sure your computer has the same programming code as his.

the maf needs to be calibrated for your injectors so ask if he is running the same ones you are or you will need to buy another maf.

I would think he would come down a lot. I almost bought a new powerdyne kit with a fuel pump off ebay from a guy last year that had a **** load of them and he only wanted 1750 shipped.

they are well known for the compressor fan thats inside... exploding, and sending pieces of metal down the intake path, and into your engine

If this is true then you should stay away from Powerdyne. After everything I've heard over the years you couldn't pay me to run a Powerdyne blower.
