Also, just using the cans from the parts store will not always make things better either. Systems also need to be properly vacuumed to remove the oil that is in the system so it can be filled properly. Getting it vacuumed will also let you know if it does leak or not.

pulling a vacuum is not for removing oil. you do not want to remove the oil and if you loose to much you have to add. you pull a vacuum to remove air and more importantly moisture. moisture = acid and death of a compressor. If you do not know what you are doing have someone that knows how to check and recharge

well today i bought some 134a and put it in. the compressor kicks on for about 5 seconds then shuts off for about 30 and repeats it self over and over. still blowing warm and gauge reading 50psi when compressor is off and well below 20 when compressor kicks on. im lost.

how much freon did you put in??? could still be low.........is 50 the high side reading?? and below 20 the low side???.....if so sounds like it's still low on a charge....first answer how many ounces you put in??

mjr46 I do commercial refridgeration not autos not familier with your recovery/charging machine.

you can't confirm that until you know what's going on with the high side, low side often is draws into a vaccum when a restriction exists as such, unless the OP has a set of gauges to monitor low and high side, I say at this point take it to a qualified tech
