sorry if this is in the wrong section, i actually looked this time to make sure it was right, so im sure im wrong like always. i searched this several diff ways and couldnt find an answer, how do u tell the difference between a 7.5 and a 8.8 rear end with out taking them apart? the reason i ask is my 86 was originally a four banger and has been converted to a 5.0, and the previous owner said he had changed the rear end, but didnt say what he put in it. then today my buddy was layin under the car and said it looks like a 7.5. sorry if this has been answered before, but i did try to search it. thanks guys

also check the tab, assuming it is still there, it should say what axle it is

The tag on the rear of mine just says a bunch of random numbers. I don't know what to make of them? They are 9201a 17388 8c07 any ideas?
