Those numbers can get you close but they do not take into account suspension work, tires, or the skill of a driver. The more hp you have the less accurate those numbers are going to be because there is more room for error.

I was kind of skeptical about that chart. It has to be pretty generic, I have seen too many cars that were rated at the same hp, but ran way different track times. Projectresto, I have started looking through the suspension things you recommended. tubular front ends and all. Thanks for the help. Hopefully this will also counter weigh the convertible extra weight. I am looking into probably doing the 1500 dollar blower now. Like a s-trim I think. I just don't want to get too crazy with machine work and all forged rotating assembly's and all of that. I mean, honestly, with all the suspension stuff I'm close to the max end of what I'm guessing for a budget. I have around 6k or so I can put into this thing. will a stock forged piston motor 88-92 (If I remember correctly) with a good h/c/i combo and the blower hold together? (I realize I'll need to bump up supporting mods injectors, fuel pump, etc.

You will be fine on your motor. As long as you have a good tune you won't have a problem with your pistons. Also be sure you get some subframe connectors, also a very needed part of the suspension upgrades.

And if so, say with the spray, would that get me the times I'm looking for? thanks for all the input guys.
An old member here went deep in the 11's on a stock longblock, with 4.10 gears and a build rear end, a built transmission. and a shot of nitrous

deep in the 11's....nice. I'd LOVE to see that in this car. I had a member here who nicely suggested and built a "budget build list" for me. He had things like patriot heads the trickflow intake and I believe a tfs cam. Can you guys make any other suggestions? How are those patriot heads? especially with a blower? And, what size heads/cam and throttle body and mass air should I look at? Thanks for all the advice guys I'm just putting my list together so I can start ordering and any and all help is appreciated!

Oh, one more thing..(sorry), but if I just do a good clutch in the stock trans, is that enough? I'm just curious due to money. But, I don't want the tranny to drop out the first time I jump on it either.

find a pair of used TFS heads... usually a good place to start. Look over on corral.net

fwiw, i picked up my $1300 Canfield heads (with port work from fox lake racing) for $650

What part of Kansas are you from?

depending on where you are at there are a few places local you can check for parts and such.

I'm in wichita also!

After doing some reading it's looking like with a S-trim, I would want to go 6-8lbs of boost. If I run that what size of heads should I look at running if I'm using a stock shortblock (like I said it'll be a forged piston motor)? And is a custom cam probably the best way to go in this situation?
