Default Plz Help!

Ok, so I'm not sure if this belongs in this section or not. And if not I apologize and thank the mods for moving it in advance. I have a 94gt convertible. I didn't want a vert but picked the car up dirt cheap. Problem is it's ready for a new drive train. At this point I'm looking at 5-6 thousand for everything (that's the budget I'm looking at). But, on top of that there are many parts that NEED replaced as far as steering, all suspension etc due to the fact its 16 years old. My question is, would I be better off dropping all this money into this car, or getting rid of it and moving to a 99-04 gt and throwing some cash into it? I want it to be a daily driver but see the low 12's or MAYBE high 11's. Thanks in advance and sorry for the novel!

Get what you really want. You can dump money into anything. You wont be happy if you dump 6 grand in this car, and then decide you REALLY wanted an 04.

You wont get half back what you put into the car.

Thanks guys. I know I should stick with what I want, but, an 03-04 cobra isn't anywhere NEAR my budget. I was kicking the ideas around about an 01 or 02 cobra or gt. I just don't know much of anything about those motors and any gains over the pushrod 5.0 in my 94. I've built a couple 5.0's so I know kinda what to expect. But, I know covertibles are heavy, (not sure how much difference) and I like 99-04 body better than my 94. but, I've only got 1k in the 94. Just thinking where I'd be better off as far as money goes. I don't know what the 01-02 gts or cobras are capable of. I know the terminators are awesome cars, but I believe the motors are different. Can ANY of the "guru's" out there tell me pro's and cons of both builds? Please don't flame me for this, I know the 5.0's potential and about what it'll take to make it do what I want, other than the weight of the 94. I just am trying to weigh out the options. Thanks guys!

ok, maybe I should rephrase it...ignoring the body style...what about the motors? for example, I think the 01-02 is the two valve...? if so, what is that thing capable of in comparison to the 5.0 in my 94? I realize the car itself is my decision, but as far as drivetrain and money is where I'm asking for assistance. Thanks in advance

5.0's are cheaper to mod

From where you are now, it would be cheaper to put the money into the vert and mod than it would to get a newer one and mod. The 5.0 would be faster for the price

Thanks guys. Now, does anyone know what I would need horsepower wise to get low 12's high 11's out of this thing? I mean, the few guys around here I know that have mustangs are either fox's or terminators and they keep trying to say it's not worth doing to this car because it's a convertible. (they say it's just SO much heavier). I haven't found any weights on this car in comparison to a coupe. Anyone know what I'm up against?
