Default T5 vs. 6 speed

Does anyone have any suggestions on the advantages/disadvantages of putting either a T5 or a 6 speed in a '93 gt convert. What do you like/dislike about either conversion. I'd be going from a C4 auto. Also, about how much could I sell the C4 for? Thanks for any input, Q

The stock c4 isn't going to go for much. I bought mine for $100. The T56 conversion (6 speed) costs about $3k to get as a package deal. It really isn't needed. Just go pick up a tremec and be done with it.

like resto said, go with a Tremec and be done with it. the T-5 is inexpensive at first, but it'll add up later as you break 'em left and right. the T-56 conversion it outrageous from the start. you can find Tremecs for reasonable prices and still have $$ left for flywheel, clutch, bellhousing and pedal assembly (if the car was a factory automatic).

Advantage of a T5 is cost but since you left out lots of information about your car it will be hard to advise on which transmission to go with.

If it's stock and not on a tire. No problem with a T5. It would also be major overkill to put a T56 behind a mild 5L.

For a healthy build, yes a Tremec TKO500 is a popular choice.

for less than the price of a TKO you could build a STOUT T5 and still be ~ 40lbs lighter and shift WORLDS smoother...
