So its about time to re-register the 93 fox 5.0, so i take it to get smog tested, test only, and the stang doesn't pass passed every category but registered too high for the NOx section..

Talked to my local mechanic and he said the main 2 causes are cat's and egr.
I got new cats installed when i got my exhaust done not too long ago so i dont think its those bad boys, so i went to inspect the egr. Took my CAI off and oh boy was it dirty in there, so i cleaned it out and cleaned my air filter while i was at it/re-charged it.

I'm taking it back in the morning to get it re-tested to here's to hoping it all goes well.

did you do a basic tune up before taking it in? spark plugs, fuel filter, adjust tps, clean maf, set timing to 8* base, etc?

 

just replaced the fuel filter a couple months ago, going to get some MAF cleaner in the morning, and ive never tinkered with the timing so that should be set, ima double check that in the morning tho

 

stock timing is 10*, setting it down to 8* helps with smog
