yes but what im getting at is that if you dont have the smog stuff there shouldnt be any exhaust passing through that hole in the first place to get to the egr.. unless it comes from somewhere i dont kno of..

Must be. There is an EGR eliminator in place of the EGR spacer(which is just a plate. ). The other end is this hole that I plugged. The intake spacer burned from the inside out until it reached intake runner #3. The dudes at SBFTech told me to plug that sucker.

Im planning on plugging the holes in the head. I dont want exhaust gas anywhere near the intake. Kind of defeats the purpose of a cool intake charge.

hmm.. idk that hole flows into the 2 holes in the middle of the head which i believe connects to the thermactor holes in the back of the heads.. so if those are plugged then why would it still flow through the spacer? idk im just tryin to follow the flow from its origin

I personally dont know since I havent messed with the heads on my car. My thinking is the further back I can stop the egr flow the better.

Could it be coming up from my exhaust? Through the passages or something? I know there is absolutely no emissions equipment on this car because I built it from the ground up. I could take a few pics of what I have if you want.

The tube from the exhaust introduces exhaust into the back of the heads, and into the intake manifold through the EGR. If the EGR is blocked, but not the heads at the lower intake manifold, then you where pumping exhaust into the intake with no where for it to go, and if the EGR is blocked, no way to cool it off from getting to hot, which explan's pretty much everything.
also the lower intake manifold gaskets come with a block off plate/tab to block off the little holes on the intake side of the head, you should have used thouse.

Yeah, I'd heard that the lower gasket set came with those but they were nowhere in sight when I opened up my set.

ok, but be aware you will be building extra heat into your intake manifold which will hurt performance, and the effect it will have on other parts will be unknown.

I think it'll be alright. Do a google search on plugging the lower. It's been done several times and sbftech hasn't steered me wrong yet.
