Default Can my engine take it?

Would I be able to put a supercharger on my 122 000 mile engine? It burns a bit of blue when you really rev it out under load but thats it. I just noticed when my friend was driving i wanted to hear what my exhaust sounded like lol. Compression was 135 to 145 on all cylinders. They were decently even too. I don't have the shop or the knowledge yet to rebuild my engine...

Ill tell you ive never rebuilt any engine before i did my 5.0, and i didnt have much trouble at all. Theres plenty of guides and pictures online that can help you out alot. With basic mechanical skills and some decent tools, you can rebuild it if you really wanted. Really the only thing u may need to do is send it off to be cleaned and checked out, possibly machined... but you are talking maybe like 250 bucks i think. Really the motor now could last a good while with the s/c, noone can know how long its gonna last even on a rebuilt motor. All you can do is strap it on and try it, the worst that can happen is you are rebuilding a new one later.

if your burning oil, i say rebuild then boost, cuz if your burning blue your valve seals or rings are bad... and the added cylinder pressure will just blow out whatever is already starting to go. but i think when it burns oil under load its the valve seals, but i may be wrong...

but hey, i say boost it, if you blow it, you needed a rebuild anyway haha.

ive got 147K on my car and i burned a quart of oil in 5,000 miles.

Yeah i need to fill my oil alot if i drive it hard. Like half qaurt every 3-4 tanks of gas :s Im sure if i drove it easy it would be better lol Do you need a dyno tune to install a supercharger? There isnt a tuning shop in my area :s

without a good tune, you wont see the full potential of the sc and also your more than likely gonna do way more damage to the engine.

I would rebuild, I can't stand an engine that smokes. And it will get worse with the supercharger.

Rebuild it and put a set of heads and a cam on it and an intake with the money you were going to put on the supercharger. If your motor is stock, it will fell like you put one on it already compared to what you are used too. Then if you put on the supercharger, you can make more power with less boost.

Boost it now and while your driving it have another motor rebuilt and ready to go!

boost it, you'll need a tune to do it right.

make sure you get all the supporting mods, dont half *** it. you'll regret it later.

beat the hell out of the motor but make sure you've got another 500 sitting in your back pocket for a rebuild(considering you're doing it yourself)
