Haha ^ 500 ? think it would be more then that. I live in a ****ty small town in Canada so no tuning shops or good machine shops just small private stuff. How much would it be for the average machine shop to freshen up the short block? Seems like id be better off using them money to do h/c/i but either way seems like im gonna have to get the short block rebuilt :s I dont have that much money though :s

Rebuild it it now if you even think of boosting it.
Use good quality forged internal parts.
The idea of the block 'checked out and machined' for $250 is crazy.
Try about $700-$900 instead.
The boost idea is not a cheap game to play...

lol, you think that's bad, i'm adding about 1/2-1 quart per tank of gas these days (part of the reason i'm in the process of building a new engine. waiting for the bottom end from FordStrokers at the moment).

weird thing is there's never any smoke from my pipes... i dunno where it goes

around here it isn't that bad. 150 for a bore. 200 for a bore with torque plates. 150 to have the line bore on the mains if it needs it. Only other things would be honing which they have never charged me for. And the decking if you want that done. Around 400 bucks i would say with cam bearing install.

In all honesty, it would probably be okay. If it gets to blowing some seals, look at a way to vent the crankcase better. Or rebuild.
