paint stripper for plastic...
ok so after a looonnngggg 6 months of driving around my car with a primered front end i am giving her a nosejob and putting her back to her green/ white racing stripe condition.
question. the cheap rattle can primer i used on the nose is chipping/ scratched from 6 months of winter and pebble strewn Southern PA highways (thank you construction crews... grumble grumble) anyway, short of sanding, (which i dont wanna do again... stripping it the first time was terrible) what kind of chemical can i use that is safe to use on the urethane front bumper? i wanna expidite the crappy paint removal... i need to get her back and looking good for a few upcoming car shows...
i know what ineed to get for stripping the fender to bare metal to reprime and repaint, paint i got is a spot on match.
and, do you wetsand after shooting color before the clear? or do you clear it then wet sand?
thanks guys... i will post pics of the finished product... currently i just have the cobra grill done and it looks great.

I was in the same boat as you. I had some aircraft stripper and I wanted to use it but I was too afraid so cant help there. But I am not certain on this but pretty sure. You can wet sand the color coat unless its metallic because it will mess up the flake and you can wet sand the clear for sure. But don't quote me on the color coat wet sanding. Pretty sure though.
DO NOT WET SAND THE BASE COAT!! SOME DO but I usually don't, I wet sand the clear, and Bill, I did my wifes 2006 town and country rear cover last weekend, thanks to some schmuck that hit it and didn't leave a note = dishonest phucker!! anyway, I used aircraft stripper and brushed it on and was quick to remove it once it bubbled the paint and it didn't damage the cover, then I used an epoxy primer = 2 coats due to the damage I had to repair and sanded it with the appropriate grit, then shot 2 coats of base and 2 coats of clear, final product looked excellent, my wife couldn't even tell it was ever damaged.......but none of it was repaired with rattle can crap, = all pro paint/primer with hardners and pro gun used
