Default normal rebuild

My engine has about 150,000 miles on it and i think its time for a rebuild. How much am i looking to spend for just a normal rebuild...Im not making a street/strip car, it doesnt need to handle 800hp, im keeping it naturally aspirated, i'll probably just do h/c/i and leave it at that. For the most part the engine just feels tired and it burns oil, and i like to stop that.

1500 for a quality rebuilt short block with quality parts and you are a good canidate for a tfs kit = 2500.00 add a few hundred for misc stuff/gaskets /fluids and around 4500-5000 will be the cost which includes some additional supporting mods such as TB ECT ECT............

yeah i wouldnt do a stock rebuild. at least do a little.

gt40 iron heads are about $300, spend another $200 in port work and valve job, get a decent intake (stocker will support 300 hp though) and a small cam to keep streetability.

you can make an honest 300 hp car for relatively cheap.

or look for a low miles replacement if thats not interesting to you. i see 80k motors complete for $300-$500

latemodel restoration has a economy short block for around 699. one of the members said it worked great for him with a h/c/i. i am pretty sure that the components are all close to stock.

Look for a good machinist where you live. I've had my short block rebuilt twice(second time was my fault). One rebuild cost $400 and the other $420. It was a stock rebuild. It can be done for a reasonable price.
