please help! my car sucks right now
I've been asking around about this for a while and would appreciate any opinions anyone has to offer. I have a 92 gt with gt40p heads, e303 cam, cobra manifold and a few other misc things. I rebuilt the bottom end about 3 weeks ago. chrome alloy rings, heads surfaced and valve job, crank was miked and polished and the block was cleaned and honed. It was a stock rebuild and the machine shop is extremely reputable and builds racing engines around the stl area. After the rebuild i had a few minor issues such as timing and such which were ironed out and the car ran great, besides on startup where there was an occasional puff of smoke which i assume is related to the rings not being completely seated yet. recently i had an o ring go bad on an injector where it connects to the fuel rail. Pulled the upper intake and replaced all o rings and fixed a few vacuum leaks due to worn hoses. after everything was put back together the engine shakes like a flutter under a load in the lower rpms up to around 2000. It seems like an engine miss to me so i replaced all spark plugs which had no effect. I then re-checked all vacuum lines and replaced pcv valve and gromet... nothing. took the egr valve off today, cleaned it checked vacuum to it which is correct. I am at a loss and am extremely frustrated with this vehicle. it has 1700 miles on rebuild and still smokes at startup which is oil burn. there is no blow by so i believe the rings are decent. Please help

well....I would suggest than take it to a shop let them look the engine over and try to help you figure out what the problem is?

what plugs are you using and what gap ?
gap the plugs down to about .035" and see what happens. you can at least isolate i fit's spark related. i never gap more than .042"
and if you have platinums or some other plug that isnt a stock type copper plug... dump them for cheap ones
