Default autometer gauge ilumination source

hi i have some auto meter gauges ,+ tach and i ared m in the process of installing them. i know red is 12v, black ground, green to msd box[/B], and white is for the illumination. here is my question. where exactly do i connect the illumination if i want the lights from the gauges to turn on when i turn on my headlights. any info or pics, links would be great. thank you.

right to the dimmer switch. thats what i did. they will light up and dim and everything. or you can wire them to the headlight switch which then goes to the dimmer

dimmer wire if you have an after market radio do dont use that wire any way. i think its orange with a white stripe

sorry i would do what nacanitihs said use the dimmer switch.


if you are putting the gauges in the middle vents or close by a wire for the dimmer switch is on your factory radio. orange white.. good news if you have an aftermarket cd player that wire will be just sitting there not being used anymore. its close by and works great

someone told me a could use an add a fuse to the fuse box, i would perfer doing that if i can since my wires are coming from the pillard gauges and are closer to the fuse panel. if i can do that do i add it to the dimmer fuse?
