Hi Randy, nice to hear from you. Fart in church, well all things shall pass...If this is the 93 block from Mustang it is a roller block. For start the ehads will help more than the stock heads. Better heads out their just $$$$. Forged can take some nos. Hyper will be less and can be used. LRS has budget shortblock for $699. Find a set of 24 and maf to match. Can add quite a bit to those. 30 is a bit much. Bubba
my goal would be 300hp or better.. better would be preferred.. I need it for a daily driver want good power..will be working on another motor for the future far as the engine that is in there i can only assume original ..popped a valve cover and it has stamped rockers so questions do arise I have absolutly no history on this car
if your working on another motor in the future than this one I wouldn't spend to much on, if the bottom end is okay, just bolt on some heads and slide a new cam in, all the parts you currently have will support 300 rwhp, but without knowing the future size engine you wish to build it's hard to say what to recommend for heads cause, if you wish to not have to buy heads twice you can purchase a set of heads now with your future build in mind or if money isn't an issue later, buy a set of heads now suited to the 302 build and sell them later, if that's the route you wish to go get TW TFS 170 heads and a stage 1 cam and bolt them to the systemmax intake and if the bottom end is okay call it a day, have a dyno tune and you should easily be over 300 rwhp, if the bottom end needs freshening, I'd just hone it, polish the crank and install new cam bearings, freeze/soft plugs and new rings and call it a day, all that'll cost under 500 for what I call an overhauled engine and it'll met your goal without shelling out tons of cash for the time being.
I HAVE DONE SUCH FOR A FEW BRACKET RACING FRINDS AND LAST ONE got 400+ passes out of the motor before it spun a bearing.

i am a fan of gt40 heads. you say "ported" but that is pretty broad.... were the exhaust ports done? ported and polished ? opened to a specific gasket size ? the intakes only need a little smoothing in the turns, and matched to a 1250, also the thermactor bump should be removed, and possibly decked for a little more compression along with a multi-angle valve job
do that and with the right parts to support it (stock intake will support it) you can hit 300 on the cheap
what are your plugs gapped at and what plugs did you use ?
