Matching Cam lift to Head lift

that's not how you do it, spring rate is what matters, follow cam manufactorers recommendations, 986 or 987 dual spring is what you'll need if that is a xe274 cam iirc.

Comp cams said if the spring height is 1.800" it will run fine with my cam but how do i measure the height of the spring from where= to where=

where's the facepalm when you need it....??...................installed height is what matters..lol?? think about who you're talking to at comp cams, often not someone very educated on the matter...= 7.00 dolla an hour read off a piece of paper guy.........seat pressure is what matters!!! open vs closed and the rate of the spring, if the rate of the spring can't deliver the proper seat pressure just wait and see what happens at higher rpm levels = float the valve or the lifter will bounce/jump on the lobe, meaning installed height won't do jack for that!!.FYI ALL SPRINGS ARE NOT CREATED EQUAL....but what do I know, go ahead and do what you/the person who tells you what you want to hear.....
