Well when the guy painted my car he just painted over the black on the top part of the doors. What color paint do I need so I can paint it the right color black? Satin? Flat? Semi gloss? Gloss?

IMO go with the same color as the rest of the trim on the car. Or just go satin cause that is what most black trim color is.

Just had my 86 painted and all the trim was done with SEM 39143 Trim Black. It is designed to match factory finish on exterior trim. Came from Carquest for around seven $ a can. I think you would be very pleased with this paint. just my two cents.

thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm actually looking for What Ford painted the black part of the doors around the windows. I don't mean the trim.

i used krylon rust tough on the tops of the doors and all the window mouldings.its a semi flat black
