Default Sensor: Cut wires

I noticed while under my Mustang today that there is a plug or sensor screwed into the side of the oil pan but the wire coming from it has been cut and is stripped of all it's plastic coating.

The oil pressure sensor is on the side of the block so it isn't that. Could it be a oil temperature sensor?

I looked in my Chiltons manual and it says nothing about an oil temp sensor and I couldn't find anything online when googling it, at least nothing about a stock oil temp sensor.

Is there any other type of sensor that was screwed into the side of the oil pan?

I'm assuming it is an aftermarket sensor that the previous owner installed and then at some point just cut the wire and deleted it altogether.

If there is something I'm not thinking of please let me know. I would actually like to get an oil temp sensor working and install a gauge inside the car.

Can never have enough to tell me whats going on

Thats why I put the post up. I figured there would be something I didn't think about. So this originally triggered a light on the dash, right?

Is there any place I could get this sensor so I could hook it back up when I install the Florida50 cluster set? They have a way of hooking up a red light on their clusters for sensors like this, but the local auto parts stores don't offer this sensor. They only have oil pressure sensors and coolant sensors. I figured if it's already there I might as well use it.
