Default Gears...

So, like an idiot I assumed that my '88 had 2.73's in the back and decided on 3.55's. I finally found a good deal on them and made the purchase. Now that I lifted the car and actually tested to see what I have, it looks like I have 3.27's. I want a noticeable improvement, but not awful on the highway. I assume I should try to trade for some 3.73's... What do you guys think?

410's at a minimum. I got them after deciding against the 373's and I've found the 410 gears aren't too much after all. I couldn't imagine going less. It is a little annoying with 1st gear being so short but it pulls so much better now and I'd venture to say my fuel mileage has improved in town.

Yes ... I would see about trading them back and get 3.73's if your going to go through all that work ! I'm not big on 4.10's for a DD car now if it was a drag car different story....

Gears are highly dependent on the build of the engine. Is your sig current?

Just had 3.73's installed in my 95 GT auto(AODE) yesterday and should pick it up today. I'll let you know the results.

I did a video on Youtube with the before change of 0 to 100. I'm going to shoot another 0 to 100 after the gear change.

don't go beating on your new gears... drive nicely for a few hundred miles so they get their wear pattern set in.

I've driven my 410's fairly hard since I installed them, of course I'm confident on the install also since I did it myself. If someone else does it I think I'd take it easy on them at first.

Of course I have to wonder, if something is off just how much does it take to really screw them up. I would think that even normal daily driving would chip teeth if they weren't installed right. Assuming they were installed correctly they will start to wear right away, even within the first couple miles.
