Hey everyone out there in mustang world, i have dreamed of mustangs my entire life now i finally have one. Its a 90 lx 5.0. i picked up a motor out of an 89 gt that had 60k highway miles with oil changes every 2200 miles. this block is in great shape. i plan to go 306 possibly supercharged. I have a brand new f303 cam that i got REALLY CHEAP. i know its not the best but can I get 450rwhp with it? if so what rockers, TB , and injectors should i use?

Welcome to the board......
I think you are going to need to learn about cylinder heads if you want the sort of power that that you post about....
BTW, what sort of a budget are you working with?

only if you supercharge it will that be possible and if the block is all stock , it'll take at least 15 psi to get your goal and at that you should have an intercooler

hey guys thanks for the input, i am not a total idiot i do know that i will need adequate heads rockers manifold fuel delivery etc.. i was just wondering how far that f303 cam would go with a solid top end on a fresh 306 I am a mechanic for a livivng this is just my first mustang. Rite now its a stock motor with bbk CAI, 1 5/8 long tubes, off road H, SLP LM1's, richmond 3.73 rear, aluminum flex fan, american muscle sc rims. It runs like crap after it warms up if i shut it down and restart it it wakes up for a few mins of driving then switches back to a dog. Is that the EVP code causing a rich mixture?

you can smell the raw fuel and my gas mileage is terrible. It also just falls on its face when this occurs, ive randomly felt the car have the power it suposed to have but narrowed it down to a fuel issue based on the EVP code that matches a recall on egr wiring. so im assuming its related. There is no sticker for the recall being done so i think this may be the problem i just cant find a schematic for the repair.

egr will not make it run rich, quite the oposite, it'll lean it out as it induces exhaust gases into the air stream, and if a egr malfunction were occuring, meaning pintle stuck open, it'd have a rough idle, running a koer test with a vaccum gauge tee'd into the egr line that goes to the valve will prove if the evr selonoid is working/ allowing vaccum to be applied to the valve, during the koer test egr is tested, when it hits that area of the test, you should see a brief rise in vaccum on the gauge, if not suspect source vaccum or evr selonoid, , you state you can smell it running rich?? if in fact it is excessively rich meaning past what the eec iv can compensate which is around +/- 12% than in the koer test a rich code will be flagged, and furthmore if the car no longer has cat's that is most likely why you think it's rich as removal of the cats does not allow extra hydrocarbons to be burnt, Now in regards to your drivibility issue with lack of power/hesitation, if car is maf equipped, go to napa get some crc maf cleaner and clean the maf to start

yes the F-cam will get you to the 450 HP (IF) you have the right supporting parts to go with it. I have seen 900 HP with a F-cam and a turbo. just one of the great things about boost

Thanks guys. for now im doing an ignition system upgrade MSD coil, wires, cap/rotor, e3 plugs and flame thrower ignition module. Also im replacing the fuel filter and coolant temp sensor. Im hoping this will help until i pick up the fully forged 331 motor in a couple moths from a friend.
