Default Shifter Question - What shifter do I have here? HELP!

I went to see what I had for a shifter (just got the car recently) and this looks nothing like the research I have done.

So, anyone know what the heck I have here?

Thanks for any and all help!

EDITED!

I dug deeper and found that it appears as though it is the stock shifter. I have ordered the Steeda replacement, the gasket kit, the new boot and should be ready to rock.

looks to be OEM, with a spacer.

You should cancel your order for the steeda shifter. It's a gigantic piece of ****. I have a B&M sitting on the bench in my garage that I'll sell you for $75 shipped.

1000% agree.

I love my B&M's. Only ones I have not had fall apart , break or just get stupid sloppy.

FWIW, that spacer is something we did 15 years ago. It removes the rubber form the huge hole's through the handle, making it solid and not a sloppy rubber isolated mess. Though I always got rid of all the rubber completely. I am guessing they were too lasy to replace the long shoulder bolts and needed it to take up the extra length.

^^that's the stock handle, but not a stock shifter.

That said, our UPR Products Blue Thunder short throw shifter is excellent. I've owned several of them, as well as several of our competitors. (including the B&M) Our shifter is as nice or nicer than our competition, but it's less expensive (and still has a lifetime guarantee) It's only $135 on our web store with the MF discount.

I liked my B&M I was using but it had issues with third gear. I didn't buy it new and the previous owner also had issues with it. The hurst I got was much better but I don't like the fact that I can only use specific ***** for it without an adapter. The Pro 5.0 is also a great shifter.

Wonder why you had all the competitors in your possesion, and why your shifter now looks almost identical to one of them.

I'll spend my money with companies that put their money into R&D thanks.

No offense, but with the kind of quality I've personally seen with some of your suspension components, I wouldn't put anything UPR in my car.

I took the darned thing apart to see it better. Does this put to rest the stock or not question? Looks pretty stock to me...

I know we can all have our "I love my brand and the others suck" opinions. I had a Steeda in my 2000 GT and it was quite nice... I liked it. And I bought that one used...

As my best friend said, I don't think if I blindfolded anyone of us and just had them shift gears anyone could tell me, definitively, the maker and part number of all the brands out there exactly. We call all agree that darned near any of them beat stock.

I bought this because I liked the one I had before. Keep this in mind folks, we are all building these for ourselves... not someone else. Keeping that in mind, I very much appreciate and will listen to any and all advice.

Thanks!

Really? That's how you're gonna be?

I am a forums representative for UPR Products. I don't work at UPR HQ and I'm not involved with designing any of the products. I have, however, been into 5.0 Mustangs since 1986, and I've personally owned something like 27 different Mustangs. (lost count at 24 several years ago)

The reason I've owned so many different shifters is because I either installed them in my cars, or bought cars with them already installed.

Regardless, we do plenty of R&D, and have quite a few championships to show for it.

Actually, yes, you are.

BTW, our racers won some big races this past weekend. Maybe our parts are of good quality after all?

That's not a stock shifter man. Trust me. I've replaced dozens of them. That shifter you have has a removable plate on top which retains the centering springs. I've seen that shifter before, but I can't place it... maybe one of the original style hurst shifters? Like UPR, most of the companies have revised their designs over the years. I'm sure nobody's making a shifter like that anymore.

This is a stock shifter on top:
