Default SN95 5.0 build

What's up guys. Not sure where to start so I'm just going to jump right in. This is for my 95 gt, the motor sat at the machine shop for over 2 years. I originally took up there for a complete overhaul, but after inspecting it the machinist said that what was there was in good shape except for the cam (Busted lifter had its way with it). So he said if I could bring him a cam that he would get it back together for me. Well every time I would call about it I got the run around. Finally I borrowed a truck and went up there and got it. I'm confident I can get it together but will have some questions along the way.

To start with, this is a Ford motorsports short block (from summit originally) with the Trick flow street heat top end kit. I still have the original motor that came out of the car. I'm pretty sure it was close to stock? Not 100% certain though. Would I be better off with the stock short block and heads for this set up? Stock was forged pistons if I am not mistaken and these are not.

One thing I am a lil worried about was adjusting the valves in the trick flows, I tried when I originally put them on but ended up calling in some help. I am not 23 anymore so HP isn't a big goal, just a nice reliable cruiser. That sounds good. So thinking maybe stock heads? I'm thinking I might go get the stock motor and bringing that home also and do some comparing.

Any way, here are some pics.

Block

Pistons and oil pan

Timing Chain and Caps

Crank, water pump and old cam

Old cam with new “grind”

Trick flow heads

New Cam, dizzy and heads

Lower Intake and Fuel Rail

The whole mess

Just a guess, most likely was a Trick Flow stage one. Where are you in Tarheel State? I'm happy in Jacksonville. Bubba

you're ****ed. Those main caps are location specific. That block will need to be sent back to another machine shop if the mains and rotating assembly arent marked with locations and cylinder numbers.

you're not screwed, they are marked from the factory, look at the tops, you'll see a 1,2,3,4 with an arrow facing forward the 5th is obviously the rear cap by design.

Yes, checked and they both are all marked. Still has to go back to the machine shop though. Have to get the cam bearing put in. Good news, found another local shop to do it.
