Default Quick cam question

I have a custom cam w an rpm range 2800-6500. If i wanted to spin the motor closer to 7k, does the motor literally just not rev higher and stop making power at the 6500 mark? Would I Be able to spin the extra 500 rpms?

You can spin it as high as your parts and machine work and assembly let you! things like titanium vlv train components help that along also! A precise balance job on the rotating assembly and overall quality of the build go into it too! as far as your cam quoting the best operating range for the camshaft dosent mean you cant turn it any higher!

That is good to hear. I have a buddy helping me when I have questions. He had a built LT1 Camaro, he said he spun his to 7500 rpm and launched at 5000. We were at the drag strip last night and I started thinking maybe I should spin mine a little higher. When I started the build, I was thinking it wouldn't see past 6500 since it is daily driven and not internally balanced (28 oz imbalance).

you want it to live, keep it in the 6500 range, stock sbf blocks don't have the strength to sustain 7k for longevity, you want to do what your buddy does , put a sbc in it the stang

I shudder at that thought. Haha. I think I made a good choice then. Thanks for the input

Haha. I'm just going to keep it at the 6500 mark. I was just curious if I were to spin it higher what would happen
