Motor Decisions
Ok guys, I've hit a speed bump with my engine build as far as putting it on the back-burner.
Long story short, I was assaulted with my girlfriend in the Mustang the other day by a couple guys in downtown Indy. We are both extremely lucky, as they were not armed (at least to my knowledge) and they did not touch her. In hindsight, after talking to the police officer, he suggested I look into carrying.
So here's my dilemma, the money I spend on a firearm could be put towards finishing the motor by my January goal. I drive downtown for class M-Th during the day.
Suggestions? What would you guys do?

A 380 Ruger LCP is only $300 brand new. Shouldn't limit the time of your build that much. Just remember, once you pull a gun you better be ready to use it. Once you use it, it'll change your life forever one way or the other!

Gahhh, idk. I've been looking at getting a Sig 1911. I don't think I will carry on my person unless I'm really uncomfortable of my surroundings. It will mainly stay in the car. I understand where you're coming from about using it. The guy at the gun shop said most disputes end when a gun is drawn. He used to be a Fed.
But like I said, idk. I've been tossing the thought back and forth, I think just because its still fresh in my mind.
Anyways, I'm probably posting my concerns on the wrong forum lol.

If you aren't familar with hand guns, stay away from any 1911's. I carry one sometimes but I'm very familar with it. Get something lighter and maybe with a larger magizine, like a .380 or a 9mm. Find a range someplace that will rent you these guns and try before you buy.

A 1911 is typically big money. I work in some hoody areasbof Detroit I carry a .45 smith revolver in my car and a Springfield xdm.40 with me anytime I leave the car. Almost had to draw one time. Thank god I never did.

A couple other guys suggested 9mm also. Its also cheaper on ammo. That sounds like a better way to go, and shouldnt take too much away from money i could put towards my build. I was thinking of fabbing a holster on the side of the shifter area right in front of the seat since the glove box is so damn small

Just get you a little .380 It's small, cheap, and would be perfect for vehicle defense. I personally always have a 1911 in my mustang, but I'm very familiar with it. However, I will say that it's a little big for a car.
