Default overheating help

I was driving home from work and I noticed that my car was running hotter than usual and I saw the temp creep up so I shut it off. When I shut if off i noticed that my upper rafiator hose was really hot and stiff while the lower was luke warm. Today I see no circulation in the radiator and I tried running the car and remove the upper radiator hose from thermostat housing my logic being that if the thermostat opens then i should have coolant flowing and I wrong? I am now begining to think that my thermostat that I replaced a month ago has failed. I would really appreciate any input into this.

the thermostate could have gone out? but the fact that it has only been a month has me wondering. did you change radiators at any time? and if so did u re use your old radiator cap? may sound kinda dumb but on the white 88 i used to have it was over heating like a **** once i changed radiators until i put the old cap back on

my first thought was thermostat too but a air pocket in the system can also cause this.

My first thought is do you have an aftermarket gauge? If not get one as it is near useless to try to troubleshoot overheating issues with the stock gauge.
