Default AODE autobox

Just bought a 5.0L 94 with an autobox with O/D. I was under the impression that these boxes are pretty robust pieces of kit!

Done some searches on the tinternet and found not much at all.

Is there anything I should be looking at?

Cheers.

if by robust you mean..... overweight, crappy transmission....

then yes they are that !!!!!!

otherwise, they are junk, better than the AOD, thats good as a boat anchor. at least the "E" has grandma gears over GREAT grandma gears

aod = 2.40 1st, 1.47 2nd
aode = 2.84 1st, 1.55 second

both are 1:1 3rd and neither will shift into OD at WOT, so those ratios mean nothing

what else you looking for ?????

They are better than the aod as stated, but once you pass the 350hp mark you need a race overhaul kit with good clutched and steels.

The ratios are the same with exeption of the 4r70w the first gear ratio is minutely different,
if you like gas mileage they are great, i went 7.80`s with one bone stock with a 3500 converter!

Junk is a matter opinion, cost effective not really, if you have the cash then its a great piece!

IMHO t5 is ****!

Default Aode

What vehicles do Ford put this box into. Seems it is pretty wide spread of they fit this too.

Thanks for the input on this one. I'm just after a cruiser, top down, V8 out the back. I won't be burning the tarmac up with this one.

Cheers.

They put it in just about everything they made in that erea including the towncar and f series. It'll be fine if your not looking to beat it up.

Thanks for that information, I'm only going to be using it to cruise round in. Like you say I won't be beating it up, and it's only going to be a weekend car mainly.

Cheers.
