Question Is my 1989 5.0L engine Cobra or not?

I know this is a mustang forum, and I'm about to ask about an F-100.. BUT, it has a mustang engine, so I thought I'd come to the guys who know about mustangs, not F-100's!

Anyways, I bought a 1970 Ford F-100 Ranger XLT... and it has a 1989 mustang engine in it... i was told out of a GT... but it has "Cobra" valve covers.. which i know means absolutely nothing.. but it has me thinking... was the last guy just a poser, or is it actually a cobra engine.. which leads to my question.. how do i tell if it's truly a Cobra, or just from a GT? and if it's just a normal 5.0.. is it at least H.O?

thanks!

93-95 cobras did not come with any valve covers that were lettered with "cobra" ..they were black stamped steel not aluminum, also they had gt-40 heads that are identified with a 3 bar on the front and had roller rockers 1.7 aluminum to be exact, these are the main identifying features to verify as well as a efi cobra intake, ALSO if it is an 89 motor, it TAIN'T no cobra motor , 93-95 are the years

Thank you, mjr46, for the info.. it must just be out of a regular 89 GT... but i still wonder if its high output or not.. thats probably more complicated... it was converted to a carb too, i'll try to post a picture..

Easiest way is to check the firing order.

H.O. 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8
NON HO 1-5-4-2-6-3-8
