Car runs great and has been doing it for 4 years now. it also runs 9.80s with a NO2 shot on it. He shifts it at 6500 rpm with no issues.
There are always better set up. You built what you did it will run fine. What rod did you go with?
I did a long rod 302 years ago I wanted to run EFI Renegade(class rules & weight breaks) but life kids and the house got in the way. So I have this combo that is not the best for the street or track but it is $$$ so what the hell it is what it is run it. I have been 10.30 at over 135mph lifting at the 1000ft mark on the 10.30 run with only a 1.69 60ft. The turbo is to big for the combo and the kit is old and outdated. When it runs well in the 9s this year I will be very happy. Not bad for a set up I was told really was not ideal by a good many people and can drive anywhere I want on the street.
When what you are doing goes against the theory and works just rewrite the theory.
Run this engine and have fun then start saving for the next Dart block beast.
Agreed

You have plenty of motor for your goals. You can always hit it with a little spray when you get bored.

Don't sweat switching now, you're to far in, if I can run low 11's on my 347 with minimal tuning, you should have no problem hitting your goal on a 351 stroker, Now don't be disappointed if it doesn't run the numbers out of the box, you will have to tune the car, tune the suspension and set that car up to that specific set up, and will require many changes, I'm going through such now, where as the 3.73's worked well on the other builds my car had, they just aren't cutting it for this set up, ect ect....

Jim had a whole section of why he hates the 393 lol, just got me thinking. I've corrected a lot since the beginning of this year, like raising the compression and getting the custom cam. I'm sure my rod journal size is a negative for the build, but I don't think its going to be the death of the motor. As long as I'm in the 500's and can hit the higher revs with this valve train, I think I'll be satisfied. For awhile at least, haha.

if you swiched gears now it'd take to long to get the build moving forward, 4-6 months wait on motors and sometimes more from Jim, so stick with what you got
