I went with 35 spline and a spool. The spool isn't real friendly around the curves but should be strong as hell in a str8 line.

Did you upgrade your whole rear end? What's the general rule of thumb as far as rear end torque limits when looking at different splines? I've seen the 31 spline Cobra rear ends are a good upgrade, but I want to upgrade it to just about bullet proof level and forget about it. What's a 33 spline axle good for, torque-wise?

8.8 is plenty strong for what you want to do, heck, with a rear girdle, 28 spline heavy duty axles and at that 4 lug still, I have run 10's and not had an issue, that's not to say I won't ever..lol

I basically did up grade the entire rear with the spool & 35 spline axles with C-clip eliminators. I put the rear end girdle on. Had the tubes welded and she's as strong as you'll probably get with an 8.8. I way overbuilt my car because the goal is 9s eventually. I have no idea what the torque rating would be on a 33 spline axles. It's all dependant on how your using them. Street tires that will brake loose will probably out live slicks dead hooking at the track. I've included a photo below of the size difference between stock 28s and 31s. So you can just imagine how much stronger the 33s will be.

Damn thats beefy. I dont see any company that makes a diff for 33 spline that isnt a spool. I'd like to stay away from it since I like taking corners

Yep, my bad on the spline pitch deal.
Duncan: I use a standard 8.8" housing with my 33 spline Moser axles and spool.
If your car is going to run 10.99 or quicker NHRA/IHRA is going to make you use an 'SFI' approved axle anyway.,....

Ok cool. I hope it'll run faster than 10.99 lol

So next in line is to figure out which units use a 33 spline axle
