Default pulling codes after making repairs

Is it necessary to clear the codes in the cpu before rechecking for them, after repairs? If so, what is the proper procedures for clearing the codes? Do I need to run the car for a period of time before re checking the codes?
Thanks

If you have done the recommended repairs per the codes , then disconnect the battery for about 30 mins, usually 5 or 10 is good but just to be sure I always disconnect for 30 mins.

After you hook it back up the ecu should be clear of any codes, just drive it normally for a day and recheck for any reoccurring codes , unless the cel comes on right away after starting up .
