The single most cost effective way to give your pony a bit more get up and go is to jump up to some 3.73 or 4.10 rear gears. If you can do them your self its a 200-250 dollar swap for the gears and install kit.
To put it in some perspective, the same amount of money could net you a gt40 intake upgrade, but you wouldn't even really notice much at all. With the gears you would notice an obvious gain in torque.
