Transmission issues?
I’m new to the mustang world. I bought a 1995 gt with a 1999 5.0L swap to build with my son. I’m having an issue. When I let off the gas I’m getting a clicking noise I believe from the tranny. It’s a w/c T5 standard. It’s not hard to shift doesn’t come out of gear. Shifts just fine. If I give it gas the noise isn’t there. Only when I let off the throttle is when I hear it start to click. U-joints are good. Does anyone know what this could be before I tear it out? An if I have to replace the transmission will a standard out of a v-6 work? I know the gear ratio would be different so could I just switch the gears? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You sure it's your transmission and not your rear end?
A t5 from a fox will work, you just need to make sure it has the correct input shaft. Some of the v6's work as well but I'm not sure of the compatible years.

They have a pretty good breakdown of the differences between the t5's here:
