Rattling noise ONLY in second gear?!?! 2000v6 M
Hey guys i have a 2000 V6 mustang manual transmission. Here's the problem, when i shift into 2nd, right when it pops in i hear this rattling noise. Right when i shift into 3rd, the noise is gone. I only hear it totally in 2nd gear. The noise has no afilliation with the rpm's it doesnt rattle faster or anything when i go faster. it sounds like metal to metal.
Any thoughts or knowledge?!
thanks
Jimmy

I would guess it is the beginning of the second gear giving out. you might be missing a few teeth on that gear. have you ever flushed you tranny fluid? if you haven't you might want to try it and look for metal shavings to come out when you do, if you see some you may want to start to plan on a new transmission in the future.
Nah, I just bought the car recently. I've already been preparing to replace the transmission and get a new clutch/flywheel even before I learned this lol.
I was kinda hoping I had more time but if you're right I may try and do this sooner.
