435 crank, should be 380 or so whp. it's worth noting that roush has no tune for the auto trans right now. But they say one will be coming by the summer.

I am talking crank hp. That 2010 running 550 Whipple kit without a bottom end build will sooner rather then latter be history

FWIW, when i talked directly to Roush, they say that the limit on the stock block is 480whp and they give that number a very wide berth. this is the reason only the 435 kit has a warranty. At 480, a tank of bad gas could well be the ned of your motor apparently. i always wondered if the HP really matter or if it is more of how high the blower pushes temps and how much boost it needs.

i mean, if you have blower (for the sake of the argument) that hits 500whp with 12 pounds of boost and one that hits the same level with 8 pounds of boost, the 8 pound engine has got to lost longer right? Isn't the new whipple 550 kit using a second gen blower or something? Maybe its just more efficient.

And while i am thinking about this, some one tell me if this is correct or not. i read somewhere that with a boosted car adding headers, hi flow cats, and basically reducing back pressure will make the blower produce less boost for the same power levels, thus not necessarily adding more whp, but allowing you to run more boost to get more whp. that correct?

Reason i ask is wit the roush blower i ordered, if i can;t tune it to anything but the stock roush tune and keep the warranty, will it be beneficial at all to add headers, high flow cats etc? I'm just thinking if i can;t get more power on the car with a new tune for the blower, i can get more power other ways if possible.

Edit- also does anyone know if running the roush CAI for the blower requires a new tune or if the stock tune works with it?

If I remember correctly yes it does because it adds like 15hp. You may want to check that it may also void the 3/36 warranty from Roush. I read your posts ShaneM regarding getting the Roush and the warranty being important. I am in the same boat and will be going with the M90 in the next few months for the same reason.

Yeah it voids the warranty, BUT if it didn't need a new tune i could always return to the stock air box before i went in for service. Yates has the kit for only 4300.

Brandon Ford quoted me $4330 for the kit out the door. I need to ask if it has to be installed by the Roush authorized service shop for the warranty to be valid

This is my 400hp Whipple non-intercooled with the 5-6psi pulley and a custom tune. Note what the actual boost is, The FRPP tune is very very conservative.

teh guys at the performance shop the dealer runs were claiming that the roush kit turn is conservative as well. the dyno guy told me that the roush kit with the roush tune typically ads 130 or so more whp to the car and a custom tune can get 160 or more out of the kit safely. i've asked in another thread, but anyone here with a roush m90 kit been dynoed on the stock tune, I'd like to know some numbers.
