Default Decision time, 2.5'' or 3.0'' exhaust piping for the 2011 gt?

hello, new member here just trying to get some of your thoughts on what i should do with an exhaust setup on my 2011 5.0 . Car is bone stock right now and has manual with 3.73's/brembos/ etc....with everthing except the navi system. ive looked at all the axle backs and catbacks and i have decided to just take it to my local shop and replace the stock resonators with some pypes m80's and just run straight pype over the axle out the back probably with the stock tips. The trouble im having is deciding on a 2.5'' or 3'' system. I dont wont the 2.5 to be to small and restrictive and i dont want the 3'' system robbing me of low end torque neither. The only other plans i have as far as modding for hp are steeda cai/sct tune in the future as the car is the wifes daily driver. As for now im leaving the stock pipes from the m80's BACK alone. I just want some sound out of this car but i want to make the right choice with the piping. ive always been a do-it yourself guy and i dont see paying 600-1200 for these catback systems for what little it would do for performance. Please comment and any advice would be much appreciated thanks chad.

yes i believe you are correct, it is 2 3/4 if im doing my math right. I dont know much about these cars just yet but the pypes m80's only come in 2.5 or 3'' i think. i just dont want 3'' exhuast to mess with the torque curve. I do plan on adding the cai/tune combo package they might could tune the car for 3'' idk just want some helpful info from anyone that knows thanks

I would nor vear from 2 3/4 inch pipe. Borla has three axle back options just pick one of those and call it a day, they all sound good...

thanks for the reply yeah borla axlebacks are great but the price(700) is just too steep for me just to pay for an axelback exhaust. I guess im gonna wait and order the 3'' pypes mid muffler system whenever it comes out i think they said it would be at SEMA on november 2nd but damn thats a long time to wait. I guess i will just save up and do the exhaust and the cai/tune combo all at once and hope she gains 40-50 rwhp. I think this will put me somewhere around 475 crank hp all for around 1000 bucks. that will prob do it for hp mods, b/c appearance is important to ya know lol those RTR's are looking sweet especially on a black gt like mine ill get pics up soon

I would definitely save and go for the CAI and exhaust. I can tell you that I did, CAI, headers (ARH is THE BEST) and 3 in Magnaflow Comp CatBack. Most people do agree that a cat back system is a waste. HOWEVER, I'm a firm believer in making it as easy to breath on the car as possible. That being said, I had my header guy splice in a 3in core resonator on each side to deal with drone. And by the way, don't worry about a 3in exhaust robbing torque, it won't happen. TRUST ME. A nice Lund Tune, Steeda Intake with an exhaust and I think you'll be shocked at just how much better the car runs. Good luck.
