I have a question for those who have had gears installed on their 2011.

I ordered a gear from American Muscle and they associate said the bearing kit they had would not work on the 2011 since the design changed. I find it very odd that after all these year that they would change the design.

Anyways, has anyone had to get new bearings? If so where did you source them from? Anyone have the ford part number?

The guy who I have lined up to do my install said he wants me to get new bearings incase he damages the originals while pressing them off.

In case this ever comes up again during a search I solved the mystery. Turns out American Muscle steered me wrong. You can in fact use the same bearings from previous year 8.8's. This is now a pain in the *** since I have to order the bearing separate. Oh well.

 

i've got a mindset to swap out mine someday as well but it's not a pressing need. want some new rims first. be sure to post after you get it changed out - what rear end are you going with?
