Default supercharging the new 5.0

I know the aftermarket is heating up for the 2011 5.0 but I'm wondering why more owners are not opting for FI

I originally said I was not going to SC my car and I'm happy with my current mods but I cant help but looking at the supercharger options.

I wish more vendors and shops would get info to us Customers that want to do a supercharger.I keep seeing all these build up's for upcomming magazine articles but not much else.

I realize the shop cars are being used for R&D but It just seems like everyone is competing for drag strip and HP numbers.I want some real world street testing done so I can decide on a blower set up.I dont plan on racing my car so the 8-9second cars are not what I'm after.

I'm in Socal and looking to get blown lol

Time is needed to determine the durability of this add on. I am waiting for at least a year or 2 before I consider adding a S/C. I imagine that most are like myself and waiting for the guinea pigs to run out and blow up their engines.

I hear ya KX that makes sense.

I guess one good thing is I can get a new 5.0 crate motor for about the cost of a supercharger if I blow mine up looks like Ford has found a safe limit with the 525 kit since you can get the warranty.

I'm leaning more towards the Procharger at this time and I also like the Paxton/Vortech systems.

Most do not go forced induction because Ford announced that the '11 Coyote has too high of a compression ratio and has weaker con-rods (i.e. they are not forged con-rods).

Ford does have a Ford approved supercharger that you can add on, but its boost level is really low to not stress those weaker con-rods and also to account for the already very high 11:1 compression ratio.

However, next year when the 2012 Boss becomes available to order (but will be very hard to be approved for since they will actually make fewer Bosses than even GT500s), the Boss Coyote will have forged conrods and pistons. But I think the Boss Coyote will still have a very high compression ratio, so boosting that engine will have to be kept at lower boost pressures too.

I'll be happy with 500hp to the wheels at 7-9lbs boost on 91 octane

I have a feeling Ford has some tricks up there sleeves with this Coyote 5.0
like controlling/altering static compression with Ti-VCT

I know in the past I never would have considered supercharging even a 10:1 compression motor but I feel confident that this new 5.0 can handle low boost FI and make some good power.

You really have to do a lot of looking around. Before I purchased my SC,
I asked so many questions, I drove mechanics and all the 'know-it-alls' crazy!

I finally settled on an Intercooled Kenne Bell Twin Screw SC from KENNE BELL.
I've had it for 2 years now, and no issues at all...tons of low end HP & Torque. Drag-Race it every weekend!

Don't just go out and buy one without being sure...

In the meantime, here's the Kenne Bell site and info on their SC, available for your 2011 GT...enjoy:
