Get that "cammed" sound with just a tune?

my only problem is it's a sort of Ricer type of thing to do. it's a modification done for sound only, to make it sound like it's something it isn't., make it sound like it has a really aggressive cam in it.
ofcourse people who dont know much about cars also think that suonds like something is wrong with it

The benefit of having variable valve timing is so that you can change the cam timing depending on the engine speed. Any given cam is the optimal cam at only one point on the torque curve. Anywhere else, and there is another cam which can be creating more power. By changing the timing, the cam can be "optimal" in a much wider range of the torque curve. Ford may have optimized the cam tuning for emissions instead of power, so there may be power left in tuning the cams. However, creating excessive overlap at idle will not give you any more power. It may give you a cool sound, but you will have worse fuel economy, and less low end torque. So if you want to have a car that idles like crap, sounds fast, but is slower than stock, then please increase your overlap at idle. If you increase the overlap in the 5500-7000 rpm range, then you might see power increases, but this won't change your idle.

That does sound pretty mean, however like most are saying that cant possibly be good for the engine. I had stage 2 patriot heads and cams on my 04 gt and it didnt sound even close to as good as that. Im sure pretty soon mustangs everywhere will be blowing up do to this "cammed" tune.

I agree with jahudso, if you want your mustang to have the "cammed" sound then buy a set of cams and install them, you'll get a win/win, your car will have the "cammed" sound and it will also gain signifigant amount of power..

sounds like a pro stock car.
