Default Help with gearing

Got the thumbs up from the wife and I'm really getting jazzed about getting a 2012 GT (in grabber blue).

What are people's opinions on getting the axle ratio upgrades? The manual which I'm getting is 3.31, but I'm thinking of getting either the 3.55 or 3.73.

I figure esp since I'm getting the Brembo package that comes with the 19in wheels, will the standard stock gearing be too low? (not sure if the circumference of the 19s is different from the stock 18s)

I'm probably going to be doing mostly street driving, but I'd like to get the odd hole shot off effectively if the need arises. I'd love to track the car - but it seems like I always say that and I wouldn't completely rule it out, but its probably a remote possibility.

Are the 3.73s good for street driving? What about the 3.55? What are people getting that mostly just drive on the street?

Default impressions after test drives

test drove a couple more GTs today. My impressions re: the gears
- the 3.73 seems really quick - real easy to get sideways, (I'm not used to power yet) but did seem really quick
- after driving the 3.73, I drove the stock manual (3.31) after the 3.73 and could notice the gearing difference significantly
unfortunately, no dealers around here have a 3.55. I'm still thinking of ordering the 3.55 as I'm hoping it splits the difference between the other two ratios.

I'm still not sure if the 3.73 is excessively low gearing for day-to-day driving.

I'm still looking for some guidance from people that drive these cars everyday on the street - it would be much appreciated!
thanks!

I have a 2012 5.0 with M6 and 3:73s. They are not bad for everyday driving, you can start off in second, you can leave it in 4th while turning(opposed to downshifting every turn like my 2000 GT with 3:27s). The only place that you may lose out is highway fuel economy and Im sure its a marginal hit.

for drag racing purposes the 3.73s means you have to shift another time before finishing.. between 3.55s and 3.73s i dont think you'll see much of a mpg change, not worth worrying about anyway. if you aren't worried about drag racing times id say 3.73s will be more fun/quicker.

Default went with 3.55s

Thanks for the input - I actually ended up test driving a few of 6MTs. I couldn't find any 3.55s but after comparing the 3.73s and the 3.31s I decided to split the difference and order mine with 3.55s. Maybe I'd get used to it but the 3.73s seemed pretty crazy. Under heavy acceleration 1st gear was almost too quick to shift. Interestingly, going from a 3.73 car to a 3.31 car you could really feel the difference.

Doesn't the Brembo package include the 3.73 rear as well as upgraded wheels?

Cheers.

Yeah I'm trying to choose between 3.55 and 3.73 as well. I had 3.55 in the 07 GT, but that was a 5 speed. I do alot of city driving and short highway trips, and a monthly 3 hour run to NYC.

Is 3.73 a PITA in the stop-n-go city environment? I'm just afraid it might be too short.
