Default Lowering spring install?

So I got the springs and the mechanical ability to install the springs, but any warnings to avoid any pit falls would be helpful. Does the car need to be aligned afterwards, and if so, should I request anything specific from the alignment shop? Running SVT Shelby 19" rims with 255 front 285 rear Goodyear Supercar F1's. Thanks.

Make sure you unbolt the ABS wires from the frame of the car for extra slack and a reduced chance of destroying the wires.

I am not trying to be a dick here but...isn't that something you tighten by hand and then use a torque wrench to tighten to the proper specs?

I don't remember the setup of the stock struts since I replaced them, but on the Koni's you have to use one wrench at the top of the strut and another on the nut otherwise the strut body spins. Running an impact at slow speed to get it started is ok, but he probably zipped it pretty good.

Oh, my other $.02. If you have to put a disclaimer you're not trying to be a dick, you probably are or should probably rephrase the question to make it obvious you're not. YMMV IMHO WTFBBQ. Not trying to be a dick.

LOL

sure you could put it on by hand and torqe it down. i was in a bit of a hurry that morning and havent had problems using an impact on the hundreds of struts that ive installed before. i had one little slip of the trigger and didnt hold the upper mount tight and it spun. opps i f ed up on my own car. good thing my boss likes me, because i was able to order a new one on the shops dime and nothing out of my pocket. anyway the original post asked for pitfalls and there you have it. i dont think it could get much worse than that unless you drop your car off the lift.

It's hard to convey jocularity on the internets sometimes. There are those on the internets that get butt-hurt very easily but I understand where you are coming from. I certain can be a dick when it's called for!
