Default Help Needed. Wiring Question

I am installing the wiring for the trailer lights for my 2011 GT (no snickering, it's to carry tires). I have to run power from the battery back into the trunk for the converter. I can get the wire from the trunk to the firewall hidden under trim and the seats, but I can't find a good place to go through the firewall, preferably on the passenger side. I did see a large oval grommet that looked promising, but I can't find where that bundle comes out. Am I going to have to pull the wheel and fender linings to get this done? Is there a better point to go through the firewall to end up at the Battery? Thanks.

A couple of alternatives to consider: first, you might be able to pick up power at the Smart Junction Box (fuse panel) in the footwell just in front of the passenger door. No need to go through the firewall. If that won't work, then consider going out through an existing grommet in the trunk floor and running along under the car alongside the brake and fuel lines, then up into the engine compartment.

I know you said pass side, but I went through the rubber grommet at the clutch cable. Enough rubber to poke a small hole that seals to the wire when you pull it through. Used a stiff wire to fish it through. DON'T jab it into the clutch cable.

Wait, strike that, there is no clutch cable, it must be the hood release cable as I doubt the clutch hose passes through the firewall. Can't remember now, Just look above where your left foot goes.

Are you aware of the wiring diagrams available here... http://iihs.net/fsm/?dir=499

Very handy.

Default two options

driver's footwell:

go through the sound tube hole (pierce the rubber if you still have it in place.

Passenger footwell:

fuse box panel wiring goes through a large grommet. remove the inner wheel well liner and it's pretty obvious where it comes out. There is a hole that comes out under the battery.

I just did this....got power from under the passenger power seat. White/red stripe....tapped off it. Pull fuse 30/31 under hood for power to seat prior to working. One is pass, one is driver power seat.

I came thru the trunk/fold down seat, under the rear and work it to the front seat base. Not seen at all.

Another option is the power plug in the center console.

Thanks for the input, I ended up going through the gromet in the passenger side footwell and ran it down the door jams/trim into the trunk. I also resealed the hole I made for the wire with RTV just to be sure. All seems to be well, with the exception of a possible grounding issue with the trailer passenger side light.
