I would assume that you would get a massive cloud of gray/black smoke coming from the rear, along with gremlins emerging from beneath the seats of your car.

Not on the Coyote. This engine is equipped with wideband O2 sensors which adjust the pcm on their own. Call Bama or Brenspeed to verify. Since the #8 primary on the stock header unites with the #7 at almost a 90* angle a long tube may help #8 stay cooler by allowing the exhaust from that cylinder escape easier.

Wrong. Headers do require a tune. The front o2's get moved further down stream thus needing to be compensated for.

You don't understand what factory wideband O2 sensors do. They adjust for that. Go back to the 3V section. You're living in the past.

I know exactly what wide bands do. Never owned a 3v but thanks for the offer. Ask any tuner and they will say the same thing. A tune is needed.

some people have air/fuel gauges.. some people have boost gauges.. anyone else feel like we should have a #8 cyl temp gauge? seriously.. lol

I have. Doug @ Brenspeed was the last person that I spoke to about this. You don't need a tune for LTs on a car with factory widebands. They adjust automatically for the O2s being further down stream. 2010s and earlier do require a tune because they narrow band O2 sensors.

BTW WMS told me a while ago that no tune was required. And Evolution told someone on another forum the same thing.

You may have to run non foulers to prevent that code from popping up.

I've got a 2013 GT with 800 miles on it. Looks like I made a bad choice. The car doesn't feel as fast as the other 2013's I test drove (maybe because they all had 3.73's) and I've been researching for what mods to do to make it a tad faster. Looks like I'm SOL.

I hate to be a chicken little, but I think I would've had more enjoyment and modding opportunity with a used C6 Vette. You can get them with low miles for $30k.

Question about the #8 failure....what exactly happens when it fails? I know its detonation/knocking but does the car just quit? Every warning light on the dash go off and "limp" mode activates? Massive cloud of smoke? Just curious. I've seen pictures of the burned pistons and one with a collapsed piston/ring but I want to know a description of what you unfortunately experienced.
I was seeing a Check Engine Light for a Piston #8 Misfire. If you get a CEL...I would recommend not driving it until you tune it back to factory. I was told to reset it and try driving it again on two separate occasions and I believe that only made matters worse...eventually leading to the smoke and complete failure of the piston.

What I don't know is if re-tuning to factory after the FIRST CEL would have prevented any damage...or if it was already too late.
