Default racing in a new 5.0

so i have this 2011 gt premium that i got about 2 weeks ago, its is an auto. question is on this auto when racing it from a dig is it better to shift it manually or just let it shift on its own, also when from a roll same thing, downshift into 3rd or possibly 2nd and hit it or just floor it. im not really quite used to driving autos.

The 2011? I wasn't aware you even HAD a choice of when to shift, I thought the pre-2013 auto's shifted w/o the possibility of driver input.

no it'll hit the rev-limiter and screw you up....

for me from a dig always let it drive for you. from a roll.. yeah you should shift it to the best gear, but i usually dont care enough from roll races and just punch it, there is going to be a second of hesitation but I figure i can tell if my car is faster or not once it downshifts. I don't think roll racing is racing anyway... just speeding together. and i'd be worried i wouldn't shift at the right point screwing up any possibility of gaining on them.

Does it really flash red, I've never heard of that before. Is it the tach that flashes red?

Yep. Can't remember if it's the tach and speedo as I'm only looking at the tach.

Its both of the gauges. A tune will adjust the responsiveness of the transmission, supposedly tunes are night and day on an automatic, much less so on a manual.

this is true. one of my friends who has a 2011 gt auto like mine has only radials and and x pipe and a tune and he ran under 12's at the strip. no bull**** i was there and theres a slip to prove it. before the tune i ran like 2 car lengths on the mach 1 mentioned above now im pulling him by about 5-6. tune on the autos is the biggest bang for your buck mod out there.

Yeah, a tune usually makes the biggest difference in an auto.
