Question about oil
Since many of us choose to supercharge the 5.0 (2011-2013), and knowing that the Shelbys GT 500 use synthetic 5W50 motor oil, the question is are we suppose to also go from the recommended 5W20 to 5W50 after installing a supercharger on a 5.0?
If you updated the car to 2013 internals you could run 5W-50 (2013 track pack specs). Running thicker oil will effect the operation of the oil squirters and high RPM characteristics. With the stock 2011-2012 pistons its not something most people would chance.
Plenty of us running Amsoil 10w-30. The track pack cars call for 5w-50 because of what Ford deems the intended use of the car. There is no difference in motors between the track pack cars and the non track pack cars.

When you increase power, you increase heat and pressure on the bearings. I wouldn't use 5w20 in a stock 4.6, much less a 5.0L v8 making 100 more horses. 5w30 or 10w30 full synthetic with a bottle of zddp plus thrown in for good measure. Your bearings will thank you. If you care more about your catalytic converter than your engine, then don't add zddp to your oil.
The shelby has forged pistons, which is part of the reason for 5w50.

Again many of us using Amsoil 10w-30 with no problems. It will protect better than any of the 5w-20 oils out there.
