Default Headers/Exhaust help

Gonna be trading in my 07 this week for a 2013 5.0.

I want to get kooks long tube headers with offroad h pipe. does that mean I have to get axle back exhaust? Im not very familiar with cars so I figured I'd ask you guys

Axle backs are optional and have your mufflers welded on.

Just an FYI but the Kooks are actually a mid length header.

If you're going to spend the money for headers get American Racing Headers, they are full length.

The Kook's headers are nice but a pain in the *** to install. All you need is the headers, mid-pipe, and a tune.

Don't know much about other brands but I can speak for American Racing Headers. LOVE them. Pricey but 100%worth it!

I've got Kooks headers and O/R x-pipe. They are a PITA to install, but I imagine any other set of headers would be the same, they have to bolt up the same way. I will tell you this, I've got the SLP axle-back exhaust and it is stupid loud, lots of drone at 2000 RPM. Once you get up to about 2500 RPM it goes away, but the lower RPM will drive you crazy until you get use to it. I'm considering the Roush axle back, just to get a set of mufflers on it to see if that eliminates some of the drone. I also still have my resenators, which I plan on getting rid of soon. I installed the headers myself, on a set of jack stands. I think it's easier on jack stands, most of the time you work above your chest and you're laying down, rathre than standing or sitting and working over your head having to constantly look up. Guess it's just a matter of preference. Hope this bit of information helps.

Look into Stainless works, we've installed a few sets and fitment is always dead on. Quality is amazing and the sound from these are awesome.
