Thinking about supercharger
I would love the torque from a roots style supercharger. But I love the up top pull from a centri so as I mainly race and set the car up for the track, I would rather the highend power. If I was gonna road course alot, at roots style/twin screw would be the better option. It is all in what your looking to get outta the blower.
- Will the Roush fit with the FRPP strut tower brace? The car is in storage so I can't look at it to see
No, the strut tower brace will not fit.
- I've seen that roots type supercharger can run hot, or hotter than twin screw. Is this a big issue? Will I need to look at heat extracting at some point? Is it truly just bolt on and go, or are there other things I need to upgrade?
Yes they run hot. My 2013 GT has a roush supercharger on it and I wouldn't say it gets "too" hot. Getting a ram air hood at some point MIGHT be an option, or possibly upgrading your fan system.
- How much extra maintenance does the supercharger need? I see a lot of items that just say to watch the belt and replace the oil at the suggested interval, is this it?
Maintenance is important but easily done on a Roush car. Just follow the factory recommendations.
- I've also read that the 5.0 can handle that much power, but perhaps the clutch doesn't. Can someone elaborate? I haven't been able to find any details about this
VMP is my tuner. They are by far the best out there. They consistently run 600-650rwhp on a stock coyote. These guys know their stuff.
