Default Code P2096?

Okay so last week my CEL came on when I was rocking my bama cam tune, P2096 (POST CATALYST SYSTEM TRIM TOO LEAN BANK 1). I was like, okay cleared it. Next day showed back up so I swapped back to my rock solid performance tune. Drove all week no issues until yesterday it showed back up. Doing some reading and talking to BAMA, it's either a bad o2 sensor, corrupted tune, or a leak.

Any thoughts on what I should do? Tomorrow I plan on adding high temp silicon gasket stuff to where the headers connect for my cat deletes. Doing a heat cycle and really torquing them down. Pulling and cleaning all O2 sensors and checking my intake for leaks.

Anything else or recommendations? Car still runs strong!

It sounds like you've already pin pointed what the issue could be and have all the right solutions lined up. I would recommending checking for exhaust leaks, intake leaks and cleaning the o2's! I think you'll find your issue while completing these steps and should be good to go. If you don't, stay in touch with the Bama team and we'll continue to help you troubleshoot!

I would say it's an exhaust leak. You said you were going to RTV at header where it meats mid pipe? Do you have headers?

Thanks for the replies!

Everyone is saying leak. I got under there sunday and could hear no leak or feel one. Checked the only spot that isnt welded, where the stock headers meets the cat deletes, and i dont think there is one.

For the O2s, i cant reach the front two so i want to clean the rear two. Would this most likely be the solution since the error code refers to POST CAT? Also, which side is Bank 1? Thanks!

What should i use to clean the O2 sensors?

Um your rear two should be turned off. Have bama double check that they are turned off, they weren't on mine when I first received my tune for long tubes. Also what brand cat deletes are you using?

Why would you clean the rear o2's when they should be off in the tune?

They are, if they were turned all the way on, they would throw P0420 P0421.

I might be mistaken but, i thought there is more to the rears then just checking the cat status. So they are only partially turned off or something.

I hope its the rears because the fronts are 165$!!!!

No, there is not more to it other than checking the cat status. And the fronts can be had from Tousley Ford for around $60.00.

Awesome! Thanks for the info and price check. Currently at the exhaust shop by my house, getting a free leak check and what not to eliminate this as the culprit.

Going to call ford back and ask what side is bank 1. Also going to have a rear O2 sensor at the parts on standby to pickup tonight. Already made an appointment 730 monday morning just in case it's something serious.

Either way, there is zero drive ability issues with this ligh on....

Oh calling bama to resend my performance tune also just in case t was corrupted!

UPDATE!!!

Okay so talked to ford, rear O2's run 94$, lame. Exhaust has zero leaks, fantastic! Pulled rear O2 sensor on the passenger side (AKA BANK 1) and looks good as new, awesome! Talked to my guy at BAMA, so the fronts are wideband and the rears are essential narrow band and have several parameters they monitor as well as A/F ratio, so they are not turned completely off with cat deletes. Also, had my tunes resent to me verifying the correct parameters are on/off, yay.

Some more good news, i cleared the code this morning at 19210.2 miles and usually it will return after 40-50 miles. I have 19288.6 miles and the light hasnt returned! I will keep driving with my current tune to see if it returns before i reload the tunes.

Bad news, while we had the car up, had a pretty nice amount of fluid on the lower portion of the diff, and the mechanic thinks its from the pinion seal, damn... So i kept my appointment for 730 with ford on monday, but for the differential and not the P2096.

Still baffled by this code, my guy at BAMA said he would turn off that part of the O2 if it returns, so i see success in the near future regardless.

Thoughts?
