I have a 2012 Mustang GT with a Roush Supercharger and I am thinking of replacing the clutch with a aftermarket. Do I need to replace the flywheel or just have it resurfaced? Currently it is not slipping.

Brenspeed say I have to replace it and if I resurfaced it won't reach. That doesn't make sense. If that was the case as soon as you started getting wear you would have problems.

Has anyone resurfaced the flywheel using a aftermarket clutch? Did you have problems?

 

I haven't had a customer just order the clutch by itself it's always been with a flywheel so I cannot speak to that, but if you're looking for recommendations I've been having really good success with customers with the Spec Stage 3+ clutch w/ flywheel. If you need any pricing, let me know, but Stage 3+ is good for about 875HP so you can always upgrade that Roush if you want to push some more power out of it.

 

At UPR, we sell Ram and McLeod twins. I have the Ram 9.5" Twin in my ProCharged 2011 5.0 and it works great. Smooth as silk, and it's handling 700+ rwhp easily. The Ram clutch comes with a nice billet aluminum flywheel.

 

I am rocking aftermarket clutch with stock resurfaced flywheel. Zero issues and the current clutch has lasted 2 times longer than stock. Look up threads by me to find my transmission / clutch thread. Let me know if you need anything else.

 

Just did an Exedy Mach 500 Stage 3 and stock flywheel with zero issues.

 

Thank you for your replies. That is what I was thinking. If I were running it at the track I would probably go ahead and replace the flywheel but most of the time I am running street tires or drag radials on the street.

I just want to upgrade my clutch because of the power I am putting to the ground. I figure with the stock clutch I am living on borrowed time. Also I was thinking at the same time I will upgrade to a 1 piece drive shaft and the tune. The Roush drive-train warranty runs out in may of this coming year. About the same time I am putting it back on the road after winter storage.
